19 Jan 2016: EOMA68 15.6in Libre Laptop Prototype parts, pre-assembly
This picture shows the re-printed parts of the laptop, as well as the PCBs wired together and previously tested, prior to assembly. Some adjustments are still being made, to fit the PCBs into the casework: the first casework prototype was printed up as estimated locations (for connectors for example) using paper-printed PCB outlines generated as PDFs from the PCB CAD software.
There are three plastic variants here: ABS for the screen edges and hinge parts, because ABS has a higher glass point than standard PLA. The remaining parts are printed in green and purple PLA by way of contrast to illustrate the 3D-printed nature of the laptop. There are a staggering 30 parts required.
